Student Destinations

We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements, many of whom have gone on to study at prestigious universities and embark on successful careers. Below are a number of profiles detailing the successes of our alumni.

Mohammed Emar Karimi

Mohammed achieved nine GCSE grades, including 3 A*s and 2 As.  Emar came to The Oldham  Academy North two years ago from war-torn Afghanistan, speaking very little English. Through determination, hard work and the academy’s support, he has gone on to achieve what many may have thought impossible.

“I plan to study Medicine at Oxford University, following my elder brother, who has just won a
scholarship to study Physics there. The support I received while at TOAN was essential in helping
me get to where I am now.”

Naeema Rahman

Naeema celebrated being the best female achiever of the class of 2013, with 7 A*s and 2 A grades. As one of the academy’s most talented scientists, she is now studying Science at Oldham Sixth Form College.

“I am really happy with what I have achieved at TOAN. I want to go into either Medicine
or Law, an will make a decision as soon as I can.  I am really grateful to all my teachers for
supporting me and helping me achieve my results.”
