Y8 Students Launch Near Space Mission

Our school mascot took one giant leap for TOAN as Year 8 students launched their exciting near space mission this afternoon!

At 12:15pm, our classtronauts released a high altitude balloon, which saw their payload and the academy’s owl mascot reach an amazing height of 37km before its descent back down to Earth.

Our space box began to slow down at 15km as the atmospheric pressure increased and continued its smooth descent back to Earth, where our recovery team were on hand to find it.

At just after 2.40pm, our mascot and payload were recovered! Mission success!
