Oldham Academy Hosts Ace Wimbeldon Tea Party
MEMBERS of the local community were invited to a Wimbledon themed afternoon tea party hosted at The Oldham Academy North.
The guests were greeted with an array of sandwiches, cakes and other sweet strawberry treats, all homemade by the award winning catering team at the Royton situated Academy.
The guests were able to watch Wimbledon on a big screen as well as being entertained by many performances by the students from the performing arts group and the Academy choir.
Members of staff at the Academy also joined in the event and were able to take the time to sit amongst members of the community, build relationships and get to know one another.
A Year 7 student at The Oldham Academy North said it was a great opportunity to get to know their neighbours.
“I loved being able to perform to an audience made up of members of our community. It was great to get to know them and talk to them about our school.”
Guests were brimming with compliments and many suggested they would like to come back and get to know the students and staff at the Academy even better.
Principal Martin Knowles, who gave a heart-felt speech at the event, said it was “groundbreaking” and the “first of many”.
“It was such a pleasure to invite members of our community in to see our fantastic students and staff. It was a lovely afternoon and we hope to continue to build our relationship with our neighbours through many events like such in the future.”
