GCSE Results Summer 2016

The Oldham Academy North is celebrating some excellent GCSE results.  A record 15% of students achieved at least 3 A*-A grades, many achieved 6 A*-A GCSE or more.  All students left with GCSE qualifications and the progress 8 measure has increased for the 3rd year in succession to plus 0.51, a record for TOAN.

Principal Martin Knowles:

“We have increased, yet again, our progress 8 measure. In 2015 it was +0.48, placing us in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress and in 2016 it is +0.51.   This means our students achieved at least half a GCSE higher than other students nationally with similar starting positions.

I am delighted to see the marked increase in the amount of students achieving the top GCSE grades of A*-A. Several students have gained at least 6 A*-A - a wonderful achievement.

This summer we have achieved 42% A*-C including English and Maths- a result we are proud of and we thank staff, students, parents and sponsor for all their hard work. Next summer we will significantly improve this figure. We have expanded the workforce including Associate Assistant Principals in the coming academic year, who all share the same values and beliefs will strive to ensure our students achieve their best potential. We also welcome many new specialist teachers and a record number of Year 7 students. I am really excited to see where this year takes us on our journey to Outstanding, following last May's "Good" Ofsted judgement’
