KS3 Curriculum

Year 7

In Year 7 students will design and make a cushion cover inspired by the work of artist Jaime Rovenstine and including decorative techniques such as salt resist dye, topstitching and raw edge applique. The project will include Research, Design, Development & Evaluation skills. Students will complete homework in Fibres & Fabrics to cover Textiles theory content and support their class work.

 

Year 8

In Year 8 students will design and make a Day of the Dead sugar skull and include decorative techniques such as transfer printing, hand embroidery and reverse and padded applique. The project will include Research, Design, Development & Evaluation skills. Students will complete homework in Decorative & Construction Techniques to cover Textiles theory content and support their class work.

 

Year 9

In Year 9 students will design and make a lantern using new fabric Tyvek and include techniques such as hot textiles, free hand embroidery and e-textiles. The project will include Research, Design, Development & Evaluation skills. Students will complete homework in Sustainability to cover Textiles theory content and support their class work.

 

KS4 Curriculum

AQA Technical Award in Fashion & Textiles

 

Fashion and Textiles is designed to equip learners with the practical skills in Fashion & Textiles they need to progress to further general or vocational study. They’ll develop a broad understanding of the sector so they can make informed decisions about their career opportunities.

Learners will also develop valuable transferable skills including communication and collaboration.

Unit 1: Skills demonstration (internally assessed)

Unit 2: Extended making project (internally assessed)

Unit 3: Fundamentals of fashion and textiles (externally assessed)
