Business Studies

Business Studies is designed for students in Years 10 and 11, who select it as a GCSE option. It teaches students how to understand the business world and demonstrates the skills needed to run a successful business. Understanding is enhanced through practical activities and discussion of real-life business scenarios. Students learn how to use relevant terms, concepts and methods effectively to describe business and economic behaviour. Students also consider business ethics and the impact of business on the environment. This course is designed to deepen candidates' understanding of the way in which businesses operate in a dynamic, changing and competitive environment and includes topics such as Marketing, Enterprise and Recruitment.

Class of 2018

The GCSE course is made up of three units: Unit 1, 2 and 3.

Unit 1: Introduction to a Small Business (25%) (45 minute exam)

Unit 2: Controlled Assessment (25%)

Unit 3: Building a Business (50%) (90 minute exam)

The new GCSE specification is made up of two units; Theme 1 and 2.
